Morning Movement Adventures

Take back your mornings.
Reconnect to your body.
Feed your soul.

Jan. 24th- Feb. 21st 2020

What if “exercise” and “fitness” could be different?

What if putting your whole self first didn’t require a ton of extra time, a gym, equipment, force, guilt, isolation, or a ton of space?

What if you started your day with YOU fully embodied and alive? How would you start showing up differently?

What if your daily movement vitamins fed your WHOLE self - body, mind, and soul?

Welcome to Morning Movement Adventures, a month long guided exploration into your whole self through dance, play, and movement, within a larger community… first thing in the morning.

Morning: Because you matter, and it’s time to put yourself first!

Movement: “Exercise” is short, bossy, and limited, MOVEMENT can be playful, exploring, and creative and infiltrate your whole life and whole being.

Adventures: Let’s reclaim movement as a fun way to BE ALIVE and explore the depths of who we are, not a punishment for eating too many donuts.

While I see the body/mind/spirit all as one whole, we’ll speak to each a little differently throughout our time together.

Dance/play (spirit)- Listening to and nurturing your deepest self. The fitness world is bossy and tells us how and where we are allowed to move. This is different. This is relearning all the possibilities and reclaiming your own power.

We remember that we are wise and free.

Movement Vitamins (body) - Modern living too often encourages our bodies to live in a sort of cage. This is your way to get out… and stay out!

We remember our full range of movement possibilities to rewild ourselves.

Guidance (mind) - This is the piece that speaks to establishing new habits and another way to exist in the world, within ourselves, and with each other.

We can create lasting changes that continue to evolve.

Join us for this month long journey in community, using play, dance, and guided exploration as another way to learn about your body, get unstuck, enhance creativity, gain more confidence, move more, feel truly alive, or just plain put yourself first for a change.

By the end of this month long experience you will…

Have a new inspired habit of feeding your soul first thing… before the weight of the “have to’s” kicks in.

You’ll have 20+ new ideas about movement possibilities most of which you had either forgotten, or perhaps never realized existed until now.

You’ll start looking at life more like a kid on a playground!

Perhaps you’ll lose your “all or nothing” approach to exercise.

You’ll have a new way of truly listening to your body/mind/spirit and knowing what it needs. (and it will feel less impossible to get what you need!)

You’ll feel more free and powerful in your body, more confident in your movement, and more clear in your mind.

You’ll see the clear and easy path out of all the boxes and cages we exist in everyday and start the process of rewilding yourself and getting unstuck.

You’ll discover ways of moving that truly suit YOU…

Even if you are working your way back from pain and injury.

I used these tools to crawl back from the dead of chemotherapy week after week AND more recently used them while healing from a severely sprained ankle.

This is about enjoying what you CAN do right now and inviting things back as they are ready. No rush.

How It Works:

  • Each live practice starts at 6:40 AM MST (M-F) on Zoom (5:40am PST, 8:40am EST)

  • Each practice is 10-12 minutes in length (a few minutes of a quick lesson or prompt and 1-2 songs to move to)

  • No two days are the same.

  • Live recording will be available for viewing 10-15min after the live session through your membership site.

  • Each practice will use 2 new songs from a Spotify playlist that will be shared with you. You are always welcome to use your own songs, or another source to find the music.

  • Missing a day is not a big deal! You can either do the recorded video later that day on your own, or the weekend might be another great time to catch up. The idea is not that you feel guilty when you don’t do it, but to invite a new habit of finding some valuable time for YOU.

Membership Includes:

  • Daily guided movement sessions live via Zoom  - (Jan 24 - Feb 21 M-F)

  • A membership site that will house all of our videos, so you can keep coming back to them as you like (and includes 60 days of access)

  • Access to our private WhatsApp Group to keep you motivated and connected with fellow adventurers. (think non annoying group texting, and like a FB group without having to get sucked into Facebook.)

  • A shared Spotify playlist that you can either play music from directly, or find the music on your own.

What to expect

  • Each day comes with questions to explore and a movement lesson or prompt

  • One song for vitamin warm up, or exploring a new skill - tune your instrument

  • One song for fun to share and play together

  • Sessions will stay up on your membership site so that you can join the best time for YOU.

Suggested Tools/ Equipment

  • Headphones, armband or pockets (only if you plan on using your phone for music and you need to be quiet!)

  • Clothes you can move in - PJ’s are great! (but also, good lesson to learn if the clothes you typically wear are another kind of cage for your body).

  • Whatsapp (optional free app to keep us connected and motivated and sharing with each other)

  • Spotify account, or another way to get music (link to free trial)

$40 (for this first round! reg. price will be closer to $50)

...a lovely balance of introspection, movement, learning, and care.”

“Dancing with Zoe was the medicine I needed to get reconnected to myself and renewed in my movement practice. She makes it a point to encourage your own freedom, but also gives enough structure to help you feel supported and safe to share. I’m so grateful!”

“This way of moving, gives permission to my spirit, my inner dancer to move freely, to close my eyes and allow my body to do what it needed and wanted to do - to be in the music. It was good medicine.”

“I’ve been dancing my whole life, but I have never moved like that! I feel so free, possibly for the first time ever.”

”It warms me up, gets me unstuck, and provides a great foundation for the rest of my day. It has become a deep prayer of thanks for another day of life.

FAQ’s

I don’t dance. Is this still for me?
I’d venture to say, yes… Hear me out. There are 2 things that make this at all “dance” related. #1 we are moving to music. #2 we are relearning how to move according to our own pleasure, wants, whims, and curiosities (rather than following a particular form - like “lunges” or down dog etc.). If that sounds horrible, then sure, this isn’t for you… but please don’t let a little word like “dance” scare you.

I have body aches, pains, and injuries. Will this be ok for me?
Yes. As I mentioned above, I have used this kind of work to come back from every debilitating round of chemotherapy, and more recently while healing an extremely sprained ankle. There might be some ideas or explorations or movement vitamins that just don’t work for you. That’s totally fine. The idea is to get more used to finding your own ways to move and to embrace and explore what you CAN do. I’m just here to give you some ideas and possibilities that you may have given up or forgotten and help you either find your way back, or find a new way. You will always be 100% in charge and you can follow me for ideas or do whatever you need whenever you need it (that’s kind of the whole point!).

I’m not a morning person and I’m worried I won’t follow through with this. Any advice?
First of all, you don’t have to do it in the morning. I think it’s always worth experimenting with what time works best for you. If you’ve never had some time to yourself in the morning in this way, I might argue it’s worth giving it a try. It is my hope that having a community of women to play with and having something fun and exploring and satisfying to look forward to, that things may shift along the way… OR you’ll find what does work best for YOU.

The time doesn’t work for me. Can I still participate?
Yes! While we will be live on Zoom every morning at our appointed time, the recordings will be posted up in our group membership site for you to watch, play with, and comment on any time. I highly recommend choosing the best time for you and trying to keep that consistent- you can even experiment with a version that works for you on the weekend.

I don’t have Spotify, what are my options?
I have chosen Spotify because it is the easiest way I know to share a playlist. While I have organized the lessons and dance explorations around each song, you are more than welcome to use any music you like. You will have access to both the Spotify playlist and the list of songs so that you can look for each on another platform if you prefer. Spotify has an offer for your first 3 months free if you want to try it out.

Can I invite a group of friends to do this with me?
Of course! The more the merrier! Bring in the people that you will want to engage with about your experiment and who might help you keep it up long after our time together is over.
